State Snoopers - Data Retention Revived in UK (on the orders of the EU)

The previous government's Intercept Modernisation Programme has been revived by the new Coalition. This is,in plain language, the reintroduction of a plan to spy on all our telephone calls and internet activity - although, at the moment, that spying does not cover the actual content of communications.

This moves clearly contradicts claims by both Coalition partners that they would cut back on Labour's surveillance state.

Why, then, are they reviving this programme?

Simple.

They have no choice. This is an EU requirement. Directive 2006/24/EC. Not that you'll get the British media mentioning the fact.

What's worse is this: Clarke warns on phone terror plan. That's the jug-eared Labout twat, not the cigar-smoking twat now back in office.

Labour were very keen to push this programme through the EU. For which they ought to be strung up.

Pity they didn't ask us about it.

Pity the UK media couldn't be bothered to tell us about it either. One thing you can be certain about - neither the politicians nor the useless twats in the media are going to admit the truth.

The EU's Irish Nemesis

EU Referendum finds a 'large measure of comfort' in the prospect of an Irish 'yes' vote on the Lisbon Treaty. Because it would spell the beginning of the end for the whole dishonest enterprise.

It's certainly true that the EU has managed to be as successful as it is by virtue of its invisibility. Just think: all those people in Ireland voting on something they don't understand about a treaty they've never read, produced by an institution whose operations they never see. Once the EU makes itself visible - and all its corrupt, undemocratic ways - the clearer it becomes to everyone what's going on.

It may indeed turn out to be the overweening vanity and arrogance of the EU's politicians that kick starts the collapse. The sooner the better.

European Union officials are preparing to ditch a promise to Britain of a complete review of all EU spending, despite sharp rises in UK payments to Brussels over the next four years.

The overhaul was promised to soften the blow of a deal to cut Britain's budget rebate, originally won by Margaret Thatcher in 1984 but partly surrendered during a negotiation by Tony Blair in December 2005.

There was an angry reaction when The Sunday Telegraph revealed last weekend that as a result, Britain's net contribution to the EU is to rise from £4.1 billion this year to an estimated £6.9 billion in 2011 – the equivalent of £257 for each household.

Now the "full and wide-ranging review" of EU spending promised to Mr Blair for this year is being abandoned because officials fear that it would be too contentious - and would disrupt other work which they regard as more important.

What would you expect from an agreement 'negotiated' by Blair and Brown with the bent bastards of the EU?
